Walking It In
Click, click my feet take steps
ticking precious seconds.
An unhoped for present
is breaking all my bonds.
Birds swoop over my head,
fly like iambic feet.
Our rhythm is in sync;
we never miss a beat.
Happy To A Monster See
Happy To A Monster See
By Melissa Severance
Monster do you lie in wait
to scotch or thwart, ambuscade?
Are you there to mill around
so nothing gets off the ground?
What of you must mess about
leaving minds with so much doubt?
Is it your plan to bushwhack
all the good so more the lack?
How of you to lallygag
slowing even doggy’s wag.
There beneath the bed you skulk;
moods become just blooming sulk.
Wonder as you footle do
masterpieces don’t get through.
Odd it is or somewhat queer
your existence helps us here.
Monsters milling under beds
clears the cobwebs from our heads.
Lurk and scupper as you will
Hey to strengthen up my skill.
All the monsters I can face
grow the larger my safe place.
